Three honored for community work

A neighborhood activist, an assistant principal and a company chief executive were honored today for their work in the community by Ohio State University's Department of African American and African Studies and the department's Community Extension Center.

The three were presented with the inaugural William E, Nelson Jr. Community Warrior Award, named after the retired chair of Ohio State's Black Studies department. The honorees are:

Willis Brown, president of the Bronzeville Neighborhood Association.

Martha Hal, assistant principal of Columbus Africentric School.

Steve Davis, Chairman and CEO of Bob Evans Farms.

The awards were presented at the Gateway Health and Wellness Center on Jefferson Avenue.
