2018 HR Excellence Awards: Our Judges

The nine HR professionals—many of whom are previous HR Excellence honorees—reviewed nominations to determine this year's winners and finalists.

The judges were:

Zuni Corkerton, founder and president of RefCheck information Services, Inc., which provides executive and general employment background checks for employers and boards. She previously was an HR manager for a bank.

Brad Harshaw, managing partner and HCM specialist with Strategic Payroll Solutions in Worthington. He has taught for more than 20 years as an adjunct faculty member at Columbus State Community College in the HRM Technology Program.

Lawrence Inks, clinical associate professor of management and human resources in the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. Previously, he was a vice president of organization and leadership development at Cardinal Health.

Katie McGrath, executive vice president of human resources for Columbus-based marketing and communications agency Fahlgren Mortine SBC. She was 2014 Executive of the Year in the small company category.

Chris Rutter, director of human resources for Mount Carmel St. Ann's hospital and president of the Human Resources Association of Central Ohio. He was HR Executive of the Year for small organizations in 2016.

Adrian Solomonides, director of human resources for the Wexner Heritage Village. She previously held HR leadership roles at the St. Vincent Family Center and Artina Promotional Products.

Emily Stickley, vice president of human resources at ViaQuest in Dublin. She was HR Executive of the Year for midsize organizations in 2016.

Fran Wahrman, vice president, incentive compensation governance manager with Huntington National Bank.

Carman Wirtz, senior vice president of human resources, Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. She was HR Executive of the Year for small organizations in 2017.
