Nominations Sought For Top Workplaces
Love where you work? We hope so. We also hope that if you do, you'll nominate your organization for a new Top Workplaces program.
Top Workplaces 2013 aims to recognize top-performing organizations in Central Ohio, ranked by what their own employees think. The goal: honoring the organizations that stand out in the crowd, treat their employees well and foster a great environment.
The Top Workplaces project is a partnership between Workplace Dynamics of Exton, Pa., Columbus C.E.O. and WBNS-10TV (both are part of the Dispatch Media Group).
The deadline to nominate an organization is Sept. 29. To apply, go to www.columbusceo.com/topworkplaces or call (614) 344-0320 (that number rings to Workplace Dynamics).
Any Central Ohio organization (Franklin, Delaware, Fairfield, Licking, Madison, Pickaway and Union counties) with at least 50 employees is eligible to participate. Organizations can be public, private, nonprofit or government. Employees at any level of an organization may submit a nomination.
Workplace Dynamics will contact each nominated organization for permission to contact employees, who evaluate their workplace using a 24-question survey.
There is no cost to submit a nomination. Workplace Dynamics does sell comprehensive results packages to participating companies (basic results are free), but there is no obligation. Companies cannot "buy" their way into the listings by purchasing anything from Workplace Dynamics, or buying an ad in Columbus C.E.O.
Workplace Dynamics will crunch the results and compile a list of winning organizations in large, medium and small size categories. Results will be reported in the May 2013 issue of Columbus C.E.O. and also featured in reports on WBNS-10TV.
Workplace Dynamics conducts Top Workplaces surveys for 30 major metropolitan newspapers and surveyed more than 1.5 million employees in 2011.

I'm very proud to report that Columbus C.E.O. brought home four awards--all first-place honors-- from the 2012 Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards, sponsored by the Press Club of Cleveland.
Production Manager Craig Rusnak took first place in the Business Publications, Covers category for his March 2011 design for "Cool Offices." The cover featured a photograph taken at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, shot by freelancer Todd Yarrington.
Former staff writer Jennifer Wray won three first-place awards for her work:
• In the Business Publications, General News category for "Kill or Cure?" our January 2011 story about the impact of health-care reform on Central Ohio businesses. Judges called it "Solid reporting with a good hook and great opening."
• In the Business Publications, Features: Personality Profile category for "The Legacy of Alton Doody," a June 2011 story that explored the lasting impact the retail guru had on the industry and Columbus. Doody died in March 2011 at age 76.
• In the Business Publications, Features: General category for "Burger Biz," our November 2011 cover story on cult classic White Castle Systems. Congratulations to the winners.
