Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams announced today that it will roll out a new ice cream truck-inspired collection to keep you cool this summer. The limited-edition flavors will be released over the next five Thursdays at Jeni's scoop shops and online. The first flavor to, ahem, launch is Rocket Pop on Thursday, July 8 — Jeni's take on the classic Bomb Pop described as “a tart, refreshing, ultra-creamy blueberry-pineapple swirl.” The four other flavors include Mango Cheesecake Swirl (July 15), Orange Freeze (July 22), High Five Candy Bar (July 29) and Golden Nectar (August 5). The full collection will be available for nationwide shipping starting July 8.
Aroma Restaurant makes its Downtown debut today (Tuesday, July 6), offering a mix of Mediterranean and European cuisines. The new spot, which plans to serve lunch and dinner daily, fills the former Si Senor Peruvian Sandwiches space at 72 E. Lynn St. Menu items include soups, salads, spanakopita, chicken brochettes and cauliflower crust pizzas.
A new bubble tea shop has replaced Native Cold Pressed in Bexley. First Corner Bubble Tea Shop officially opens today at 2408 E. Main St., next to Snap Fitness. Menu options include milk teas, fruit-flavored teas, bubble milk teas, hot tea and frozen drinks in flavors such as matcha, taro, strawberry, mango and more.
Grandview Café’s new sibling bar, Round II, will hold its grand opening on Friday, July 9. Promising bourbon and barbecue, the new spot is located next door to Grandview Café at 1312 Grandview Ave., replacing Balboa.
Last week, Watershed Distillery unveiled two new bourbon products. First up is Watershed’s Bottled-in-Bond (50% ABV / 100-proof) offering, which is made from a selection of its favorite barrels all from a single season. Its second new release is a tri-blend bourbon called Watershed Distillery Bourbon (45% ABV / 90-proof), which blends Watershed’s standard bourbon with its six-year apple brandy-finished bourbon and a specially handpicked bourbon.
Kabob Shack, the city’s lone Afghan restaurant, has permanently shuttered at 4568 Cemetery Road in Hilliard. The announcement was made on Instagram. Owner Sakeena Bary first opened the restaurant in June 2019.
Kenny Donnelly, the owner of Kenny’s Meat Wagon, has decided to park his food truck permanently after nine years in business. The father of three made the announcement on Facebook, stating that he plans to spend more time with his family.
