Kenny McDonald is steering the world's largest economic development organization
Kenny McDonald has been a member of the International Economic Development Council his entire professional career of 24 years. Now, after serving as vice chair for the organization and as chair of external member relations on its Governance Committee, he’s been elected its chair for 2020. “I’m humbled to be selected as chairman for an organization and a board that has so many terrific people from around the country and around the world,” McDonald says. “I’m very proud of the work and the diversity that it represents.”
The group brings together 5,000 economic development professionals globally. Early in the year they’ll head to Washington, D.C., and in the summer, they’ll gather in Calgary, Alberta, for strategic planning, a process that no doubt will underscore that the Columbus region’s issues are global issues. “How do we grow our communities and make them more inclusive? How do we have more equitable growth and opportunity?” he says.
