Christie Angel: CEO of the Year 2019 finalist

Christie Angel was voted by peer CEOs as a CEO of the Year 2019 finalist in the large nonprofit category.

Large nonprofit finalist: Christie Angel, president and CEO, YWCA Columbus

Christie Angel joined one of the community’s most respected organizations dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women in 2017 after many years of working in the public and private sectors in Columbus. Her love of Columbus and a desire to create environments in which people can thrive were the driving forces that led her to take the top position at YWCA Columbus. Previously, she served as deputy chief of staff and external affairs and services director to former Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman. She also was principal of government relations and public affairs for Calfee Strategic Solutions where she provided counsel and advisory services to businesses and nonprofits on local government, business strategies and community relations matters. Angel also spent several years working in the nonprofit sector on housing and homeless issues. Angel, who prides herself on being socially conscious, serves on the boards of Campus Partners for Community Urban Redevelopment and the Greater Columbus Arts Council. She was named a YWCA Woman of Achievement in 2015 for her years of public service.
