2016 HR Excellence Awards

Fifth annual recognition program adds new award for teamwork.

Here's a challenging reality of today's workforce: People don't stay with one company their entire careers anymore.

Add to that the especially transient tendencies of younger employees, increasingly complex regulations governing labor relations and the growing pace of jobs being alternately eliminated and created by new technology. It's enough to make a human resources professional scream.

Good thing central Ohio has many great HR pros who not only rise to these challenges and more, but find creative solutions to other trials as well.

For the fifth year, Columbus CEO is proud to present an array of exemplary HR executives, innovators and up-and-comer award winners and finalists. The 2016 HR Excellence Awards adds a new category-Team Excellence-to recognize that great work gets done collectively as well as individually.

We engage in good teamwork of our own to bring these awards to readers.

HR consulting firm Findley Davies has been our partner since the beginning, sponsoring the awards and encouraging those who practice and appreciate good HR to submit nominations.

Columbus CEO also relies on teams of well-qualified judges to review nominations and select winners and finalists. They come from local HR positions, organizations and ranks of our previous winners.

And freelance writer Nicole Kraft remains a valuable, original member of our HR awards team. This year, Nicole had to be especially crafty-producing profiles on winners and finalists without revealing final outcomes of the judging to those she interviewed.

We trust the results produced some screams-of joy-with the ultimate unveiling of winners, who were announced live for the first time this year during our late-July awards reception at Franklin Park Conservatory's Wells Barn.

The stories of winners and finalists on the following pages will inspire you to want to join the fun next year. Make plans to nominate your favorite HR professionals and teams beginning in January at coumbusceo.com.
