When is being kinder good for business? A kinder, caring company or organization may reap rewards the entire holiday season, but especially so on#GivingTuesday!The Columbus Foundation is offering a24-hour celebration of kindness from midnight Monday through 11:50 p.m. Tuesday. Chances to win a $500 nonprofit grant and free $20 Charitable Gift Cards are among the foundation's incentives to#GiveKindnessColumbus.

Columbus-based Thirty-One Gifts is continuing its global kindness with two charitable announcements on Giving Tuesday valued at $7.5 million.CEO Cindy Monroe appears on the Today Show Tuesday morning to represent the Direct Selling Association andannounce a $5.5 million product contribution for the show's annual toy drive. Through itscharitable foundation, Thirty-One Gives, the company is also making a commitment to give $2 million worth of study tote bags and warm winter clothes to World Vision to help vulnerable families in Africa, eastern Europe and Central America.

With such great corporate and nonprofit examples, Ohio ranks in the top 10 of2016's Most Charitable States, coming in at number 8 as rated by website WalletHub. The ranking takes into account contributions of time and goods as well as dollars. Ohio's highest placement out of 13 key metrics was for collecting and distributing food, on which it ranked 6th of the 50 states.
