Bank of America and Delta climb, while Seagate tumbles

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq stock market:


Delta Air Lines Inc., up 45 cents to $48.49

The airline said its first-quarter profit rose 27 percent, thanks in part to cheap fuel prices.

Bank of America Corp., up 35 cents to $14.14

The bank's first-quarter profit fell, but it wasn't any worse than what analysts expected.

First Republic Bank, up $2.38 to $69.88

The San Francisco bank's profit was larger than investors had expected.

Progressive Corp., down $1.19 to $33.57

The insurer's profit fell short of Wall Street forecasts.

Newmont Mining Corp., down 80 cents to $26.68

The price of gold fell, which pulled mining companies lower.

Michael Kors Holdings Ltd., down $1.35 to $51.80

Competing luxury accessories maker Burberry warned that its earnings will be hurt by "challenging" conditions this year.


Seagate Technology PLC, down $6.82 to $27.11

The data storage company said its third-quarter profit margins and revenue will be lower than expected. Inc., up $5.93 to $620.75

The retailer rolled out the Kindle Oasis, its smallest and lightest e-reader so far.
