HOUSTON (AP) — The brother of a Texas teenager killed when an exploding Takata air bag sent a shard of metal into her neck says he never received a recall notice about his 2002 Honda Civic.

Huma Hanif died when she rear-ended a vehicle and the air bag deployed while driving her brother's car last week near Houston.

Her brother, Faizan Hanif, said Thursday he wished he would've been notified about the recall. Hanif says he couldn't remember when or from whom he purchased the car.

Honda says it mailed multiple notices to the car's owners, including the current registered owner, but wouldn't say if a notice was sent to the Hanif family.

Ten U.S. deaths have now been blamed on faulty inflators in the air bags of some 24 million recalled vehicles.
