VW US chief ousted over clashes with management, dealer says
DETROIT (AP) — A Volkswagen dealer says the company's top U.S. executive was ushered out his job for clashing too often with the German headquarters.
Texas dealer Alan Brown says VW executives resisted former U.S. CEO Michael Horn's plan to give Volkswagen diesel owners gift cards and vouchers for products as a gesture of goodwill. VW has admitted to installing software on diesel cars that cheats on government emissions tests.
The clashes were confirmed by a former VW employee.
Brown chairs VW's U.S. Dealer Advisory Council. He says Horn did a lot in two years to repair bad relations with dealers.
Horn was VW's public face when the scandal broke last year.
