NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq stock market:


Kroger Co., down $2.85 to $37.80

Investors were disappointed with the supermarket operator's quarterly sales and its forecasts.

American Eagle Outfitters Inc., down 44 cents to $15

The teen clothing retailer's sales fell short of analysts' projections.

Tumi Holdings Inc., up $6.07 to $26.20

The Wall Street Journal reported that rival Samsonite plans to buy the luggage maker for about $2 billion.

Barnes & Noble Inc., up 71 cents to $10.94

The bookseller said an important sales measure kept growing in the fiscal third quarter.

Joy Global Inc., up $2.77 to $16.09

The mining equipment maker's first-quarter sales were stronger than expected.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc., down $2.58 to $64.89

The drug maker said an executive with its U.S. dermatology and gastrointestinal business resigned.


Costco Wholesale Corp., down $1.19 to $151.60

The warehouse club operator's profit and sales came up short of Wall Street's forecasts.

Stratasys Ltd., up $3.64 to $24.53

3D printer maker's fourth-quarter results were better than expected and it gave a strong forecast for 2016.
