Wheel, seat of missing plane are found in New York reservoir

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a wheel and part of a seat from a small airplane that vanished while approaching a Connecticut airport have been retrieved from a New York reservoir.

A New York City Department of Environmental Protection spokesman says divers and helicopters spotted the plane's debris Friday in the Titicus Reservoir in North Salem, in Westchester County.

Adam Bosch says the 1971 Beechcraft Bonanza was on a landing approach when it lost radar contact with Danbury Airport on Thursday. He says the single-engine aircraft originated in Danbury, flew to Mississippi and was returning when it vanished.

The Journal News reports ( ) that Eric Horsa of Ridgefield, Connecticut, identified the pilot as his father, Val Horsa, of South Salem. Horsa said his father and stepmother, Taew Horsa, were on board.
