NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A New York man used a fake Facebook account to coerce a teenage girl into sending him nude photos and videos of herself and traveled to New Jersey to have sex in a park with another teen girl he met online, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.

Clifford Wares, of Warwick, an hour's drive northwest of New York City, was captured after a search was conducted via land and helicopter in a park near where he lives. He had handcuffs, a roll of duct tape, a knife and a handwritten list of the names of other children his victims knew, authorities said.

Wares, who was in jail Wednesday and couldn't be reached for comment, communicated with a 13-year-old New Jersey girl via email, telephone and social media for three months in 2011, authorities said. He used the fake Facebook account to pretend to be another child the girl knew, regularly sending her pornographic images and engaging in sexually explicit chats with her before asking her to send him photos and videos of herself nude or engaging in sex acts, which she did, they said.

On occasions when the girl didn't comply with his requests, he threatened to distribute the nude images to her parents and friends, prosecutors said.

In June 2011, Wares met a 14-year-old New Jersey girl online, prosecutors said.

For the next two months, he engaged in sexually explicit chats with her and sent her pornographic images, they said. He also told her he was interested in "hanging out" with her and drove to New Jersey and picked her up, they said.

Wares, who's 42 years old, had sex with the girl in a nearby park and had her perform a sex act on him, authorities said. After a second encounter, he threatened to kidnap and kill her when she refused to meet him again, they said.

Wares is charged with producing child pornography and interstate travel to engage in illicit sexual conduct. He could face up to 60 years in prison if convicted on both counts. Authorities said he hadn't retained an attorney.
