Historic snows causing headaches for real estate industry
BOSTON (AP) — The epic snow in New England is causing grief for buyers and sellers of homes.
Some real estate agents have had to cancel open houses because of the 8 feet of snow that has fallen over the past few weeks.
Others have had to brace prospective buyers for tours of homes showing the ravages of this year's winter, including leaky walls and ceilings from a buildup of ice on the roof.
Home sales are being held up because inspectors are unable to get a look at septic tanks, roofs and other features buried under the mounds of snow and ice.
Some homeowners appear to be waiting until the spring to put their properties on the market.
