How the Dow Jones industrial average fared on Monday
U.S. stocks edged mostly lower on Monday, pulling the market back from an all-time high reached last week. Energy stocks were among the biggest decliners as the price of oil fell. Disappointing home sales data pushed most homebuilder stocks lower.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 23.60 points, or 0.1 percent, to 18,116.84.
The Standard & Poor's 500 dipped 0.64 points, or 0.03 percent, to 2,109.66.
The Nasdaq composite rose 5.01 points, or 0.1 percent, to 4,960.97.
For the year:
The Dow is up 293.77 points, or 1.7 percent.
The S&P 500 index is up 50.76 points, or 2.5 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 224.92 points, or 4.8 percent.
