NEW YORK (AP) — The Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. said Monday that it plans to buy Action Pest Control Inc., a Midwest company that helps rid homes and businesses of bedbugs, termites and other pests.

The lawn and garden products maker did not say how much it would pay for Action Pest Control. The deal is expected to close before January.

Action Pest Control, based in Evansville, Indiana, offers its services in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky. Scotts Miracle-Gro, based in Marysville, Ohio, already has a pest control service in Florida. It also sells a line of rodent control products under its Ortho brand.

Scotts Miracle-Gro expects the acquisition to add $15 million in sales a year.

Shares of Scotts Miracle-Gro added 39 cents to $56.52 in afternoon trading Monday.
