MESQUITE, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say one person is injured after an explosion at a plastics manufacturing business in Nevada.

Capt. John Gately of Mesquite Fire and Rescue says one person was burned and was being airlifted to Las Vegas after the blast Wednesday at Primex Plastics Corp. in Mesquite. The person's condition and gender were not immediately known.

Gately says the "flash explosion" apparently stemmed from an electrical issue but did not cause a full-fledged fire.

Officials from Primex were not immediately available for comment.

Mesquite is about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, near the Arizona and Utah borders.
