Activision hires Giuliani to fight Noriega lawsuit

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani is joining videogame maker Activision's legal team in seeking to dismiss a lawsuit filed by former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega against the popular "Call of Duty" franchise.

Activision Blizzard Inc. announced Monday that Guiliani will be part of the team fighting Noriega's lawsuit seeking unspecified damages for use of his likeness without permission in the 2012 game "Call of Duty: Black Ops II."

Noriega filed the case in July claiming the game maker depicted him as a killer and enemy of the state. The game features a story line in which Noriega helps the game's villain.

Activision says it will file a motion seeking to dismiss Noriega's lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The 80-year-old former dictator is serving a 60-year prison sentence in Panama for murder, embezzlement and corruption.
