Picassos among pieces going on public view in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Works by Picasso and other 20th century masters that for years hung in the Ohio home of retail mogul Leslie Wexner are going on public display for the first time on Sunday.

The "Transfigurations" exhibit, from the private collection of Wexner and his wife, Abigail, will mark the 25th anniversary of the Wexner Center for the Arts on the campus of Ohio State University.

Picasso expert Elizabeth Cowling says the exhibit gives spectators and scholars a rare opportunity to glimpse many important modern works that haven't surfaced publicly in decades, if ever. It runs through Dec. 31.

The Wexner collection joins a recent trend from New York to Los Angeles of turning private collections into their own exhibits.
