Cognizant buying TriZetto for $2.7 billion

TEANECK, N.J. (AP) — Cognizant is buying health care software company TriZetto for $2.7 billion in cash.

Privately held TriZetto Corp. is based in Englewood, Colorado. The company and its 3,700 workers will join Cognizant's existing health care information technology business.

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp., based in Teaneck, New Jersey, plans to finance the transaction with available cash and debt.

The deal, which is targeted to close in the fourth quarter, is expected to immediately add to Cognizant's adjusted earnings.
