NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The head of Louisiana State Police says a natural gas accident on an oil platform off the coast has killed one person and injured two others.

State Police Col. Mike Edmonson says it happened Saturday. There was no drilling going on.

Acadian Ambulance says its medics evaluated two people brought from offshore, but both refused ambulance transport to a hospital.

It wasn't immediately clear whether anyone else was on the platform.

Edmonson says Chevron Midstream Pipeline Co. reported the accident, injuries and death to state officials. No fire was reported.

Chevron spokesman Gareth Johnstone says he can't confirm any details.

Coast Guard spokesman Carlos Vega says a valve blew.
