UPS driver charged with stealing dozens of guns
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California UPS driver has been arrested after federal agents say he stole dozens of guns to sell them on the black market.
Authorities say 36-year-old Curtis Hays, of Rancho Cucamonga, was arrested Friday. It's unclear whether he has an attorney who could be reached for comment.
A federal indictment this week alleges that Hays stole packages at the UPS shipping hub in Ontario. They contained rifles, pistols and shotguns intended for delivery to a sporting goods store.
He's also accused of stealing jewelry and cellphones.
Federal prosecutors say Hays gave the guns to a Moreno Valley man who illegally sold them.
The men are charged with conspiracy and theft crimes that could land them in prison for a decade if they're convicted.
