FLORIDA - The Village of Florida saw several changes in its leadership makeup in 2013.

Two council members were recently appointed to the board. Council approved the appointments of Anita Heilman and Doug Bullock.

Council also voted to dismiss its sixth fiscal officer in three years. The board unanimously approved the dismissal of Beth Kinder.

Kinder was replaced by current water clerk Jason Lieb. Lieb was replaced by Kevin Gerken.

Voters in the village also approved a 4 mills levy for current expenses on the November ballot. The five-year renewal will generate $10,900 a year and will help pay for the village’s general maintenance operating expenses.

The village agreed to participate in a new joint water plant. Also participating are the City of Napoleon, Henry County Water and Sewer District and the villages of Liberty Center and Malinta.

The village also agreed to rework a contract with the Henry County Regional Water and Sewer District regarding the sanitary sewer system, which was approved in 2006. Council members will look into matters of the contract in the beginning of the new year.
