• WINTER SOLSTICE CONCERT: Come celebrate the new season with wine, nature and song in the candlelit Heidelberg Auditorium and enjoy songs of the season with True Life Travelers at 7 p.m. Chris and Linda Tatarian (of Rum River Blend fame) are joined by Charlie and Mary Jo Leet, creating musical harmony sure to bring a smile to your face. Bring your family and friends and enjoy homemade holiday goodies, a variety of seasonal drinks (including wassail) and toe tappin', sing along fun all for $5 for BNC members and $10 for nonmembers. Meet a wildlife ambassador up close and personal, take home a poinsettia door prize and be the first to view the annual photo contest submissions. All proceeds support the mission of wildlife conservation through education, preservation and rehabilitation.
• WINTER ART GALLERY EXHIBIT: Brukner Nature Center will unveil its sixth annual “Nature through the Lens” photo contest following the Winter Solstice Concert at 7 p.m. The exhibit will feature the work of both adult and youth participants that have captured the beauty on BNC grounds. The exhibit will also be open to the public during Interpretive Center hours and will run through March 16. A percentage of the sales of these works will support the mission of Brukner Nature Center.
• SLOPPY JOES: The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 586, Tipp City, will offer sloppy joe sandwiches and chips for $3 and homemade cookies two for 50 cents. Euchre will start at 7 p.m. for $5.
• BOOK DISCUSSION: The Milton-Union Public Library High-Nooners Book Discussion Group will meet at noon to discuss “A Redbird Christmas,” by Fannie Flagg. Call the library at (37) 698-5515 for more information.
• CLASS LUNCH: The 1956 class of Piqua Central High School will be gathering for lunch at Heck Yeah in Piqua at 12:30 p.m. There will be a $2 gift exchange in celebration of Christmas.

• PIZZA SPAGHETTI: The AMVETS Auxiliary will offer pizza spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and dessert for $7 from 5:30 p.m.

• PORK CHOPS: The Pleasant Hill VFW Post No. 6557, 7578 W. Fenner Road, Ludlow Falls, will offer a marinated pork chop (non-marinated pork chops available upon request) dinner with baked potato and corn for $9 from 5-7 p.m.
• PRESCHOOL PROGRAM: The Miami County Park District will hold their Mother Nature's Preschool program “Get Ready for Winter” at 10 a.m. at Charleston Falls Preserve, 2535 Ross Road, south of Tipp City. Join Naturalist Millipede Mike for an hour of playtime. Enjoy a toddler sized hike with your preschooler and discover the joys of nature through stories and games. Registration is required and a non-refundable fee of $5 per class or $10 for the three class series is due at time of registration. Registration occurs upon payment. • NIGHT HIKE: Brukner Nature Center will have a night hike, “A Wintry Walk,”, at 7 p.m. Every month BNC naturalists plan a nighttime adventure in to the Brukner woodlands. Come dressed for a family-friendly hike as staff discuss other ways animals are getting ready for the winter. The event is free.
• STAR GAZE: Join the Stillwater Stargazers and explore the starry night sky at 8 p.m. at Brukner Nature Center. Members will have their telescopes set up to answer questions. This program is free and open to the public, following the night hike.
• KARAOKE SET: Karaoke will be offered at The American Legion Post No. 586, North Third Street, Tipp City, from 8 p.m. to close.
• BUFFET BREAKFAST: Sons of The American Legion Post No. 43, 622 S. Market St., Troy, will host an all-you-can-eat buffet style breakfast from 7-10:30 a.m. Adult meals will be $8 for children and $3 for children. The buffet will include scrambled eggs, homemade fried potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits .sausage and bacon waffles, toast, coffee and juice. Take out orders will be available.

If you already have an e-reader, are receiving one for Christmas or are just interested in this new electronic means of reading books, then this workshop is for you.
