NEW YORK (AP) — Stock futures are higher in light volume following a string of big quarters from U.S. corporations.

There are no major earnings due Wednesday before the market closes for the Thanksgiving holiday, but U.S. weekly unemployment claims and durable goods numbers are due.

Dow Jones industrial futures are up 18 points to 16,078. S&P futures have gained 1.8 points to 1,803.80. Nasdaq futures are up 4.5 points to 3,451.75.

Economists are expecting the Labor Department to report that applications for unemployment benefits rose slightly last week, but that is compared to the previous week when claims fell to pre-recession lows.

The Commerce Department reports on orders for long-lasting goods in October and that is expected to dip as orders for commercial aircraft fell.
