GROSSE POINTE SHORES, Mich. (AP) — Ford's luxury Lincoln brand is continuing its reinvention with a new small SUV.

Lincoln plans to unveil the MKC at an event Wednesday in New York. It will go on sale in the U.S. next summer.

The small SUV shares a basic platform with the Ford Escape, but little else. It's low and wide, with a sloping roof and a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It also has new features, including lights that automatically turn on when the driver approaches.

The MKC is the second of four new vehicles that Lincoln hopes will revive the brand. It's coming at a good time. Small luxury SUV sales are up 25 percent in the U.S. so far this year.

The MKC starts at $33,995, making it the least expensive vehicle in Lincoln's lineup.
