A local business is changing hands. The Hartley Company has closed on a deal to sell its convenience store and gas station assets to Campbell Oil Co. & BellStores Inc.

Cambridge-based Hartley operated 16 Starfire convenience and gas locations, and distributed wholesale fuels to 15 company-owned and dealer-operated locations. Locally, the Starfire Station in Barnesville is located at 204 E. Main St.

Massillon-based Campbell Oil will convert the Starfire stores to the BellStores brand. The 15 additional locations will be operated by independent dealers and supplied Marathon fuels by Campbell Oil.

Following the acquisition, BellStores will own and operate 74 locations in 21 Ohio counties and employ more than 1,200 people. Starfire locations re-branding to BellStores will temporarily close during the conversion from their current fuel brand to the Marathon fuel brand.
