Shades of the Past
The Plainfield United Methodist Church will hold its annual chicken barbecue and Shades of the Past Car Show on Saturday, Aug. 25. Car show registration of $10 per car will begin at 3 p.m., with car show and the meal beginning at 5 p.m. Car show awards will be presented at 7 p.m. Menu includes chicken, homemade potato salad, applesauce, roll, dessert and beverage. Price is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The dining hall is air-conditioned.
Utility work at the SR 16/SR 541 interchange in Coshocton will require the ramp from westbound SR 16 to SR 541 to be closed overnight from 7 p.m. through 6 a.m. Wednesday, August 1. Class of 1958
The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1958 will meet for lunch on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 12:30 p.m. at Roberta's Restaurant, in Warsaw. The class will also have its 60th reunion on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 5 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Newcomerstown.
Trash and Treasure
The West Union Methodist Women’s Fellowship annual Trash and Treasure sale will 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. There will also be a bake sale and a donations only food stand. The church is in need of a new roof, donations are needed. West Union Church is located at 13679 Gilmore Rd., between Gilmore and Peoli.
The Newcomerstown Saddle Club will have a contest fun show beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Sunset Arena south of Newcomerstown on Kings Ridge Road. The Partridge Trap One-Room School reunion will be Saturday, Aug. 4. A basket dinner is scheduled for noon with entertainment in the afternoon. All former students and parents are welcome. The location is on Partridge Trap Road near Kimbolton.
The Newcomerstown Farmers Market is open in the Newcomerstown Public Library parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The main parking lot will be closed to traffic during the Farmers’ Market.
The Kimbolton Community Center will host an afternoon of country music from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. Menu for the day will include baked steak and chicken dinners, as well as an assortment of sandwiches, salads and homemade desserts. Carry-out is available. This event, sponsored by The Kimbolton Homecoming Committee, is open to the public with no admission charge. There will be cake walks and a 50-50 drawing.
A Bluegrass Gospel / Country Music Jam is planned for the third Sunday of each month from 2-5 p.m. at the Historic Everals Chapel, 60417 Everals Church Road just west of Newcomerstown. The event is hosted by Chestnut Hill bluegrass band and sponsored by Everals Chapel Preservation Society.
