Kate Shetler and Evan Jarvi were united in marriage in an Aug. 11, 2017, wedding ceremony held at the Lansing Center in Lansing, Mich. The Rev. Derik Heumann of Wilmore, Ky., former roommate of Evan’s, was the officiant. 

Parents of the bride are Kent and Karin Shetler of Pigeon, Mich. The groom is the son of David and Stacy Jarvi of Mantua. 

Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory sleeveless V-neck gown with lace netting overlay, embroidered with seed pearls, and carried a bouquet of seeded eucalyptus and white roses.

Attending the bride were Lauren Smith of Canton, Mich.; Cortney Scudder of Benton Harbor, Mich.; Kacy Shetler of Pigeon, Mich.; Kim Heumann of Wilmore, Ky.; Rebecca Olson of Charleston, S.C.; Maike Ryzebold of Mantorville, Minn.; and Gwenyth Gamble-Jarvi of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Groomsmen were Derric Kotlar of Virginia Beach, Va.; Erik Jarvi of Atlanta, Ga.; Austin Gamble-Jarvi of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Kyler Rilett of Jackson, Mich.; Jared Schaubert of Washington, D.C.; Leland Ball of Arlington, Va.; and Tyler Prough of Houston, Texas; and usher Koty Shetler of Pigeon, Mich.

The new Mrs. Jarvi is a 2009 graduate of Laker High School in Pigeon, Mich., and graduated in 2013 from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Mich., with a double major in youth ministry and psychology. She is employed with Liberty University as a Graduate Student Assistant to graduate in the spring of 2018 with a master’s in clinical mental counseling.

Her husband is a 2009 graduate of Crestwood High School and graduated in 2013 from Spring Arbor University with a degree in Video/Film Production. He is employed with Advoc8, a Washington, D.C.- based Advertising and Event Agency.

Following a wedding trip to the Canary Islands in Spain, the newlyweds are making their home in Lynchburg, Va.
