Lincoln Social Rooftop, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants’ first-ever rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar, is set to open at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at 711 N. High St. in the Short North. Located on the ninth floor of the Lincoln Building, the 3,500-square-foot rooftop lounge features a fire pit and retractable roof, plus a menu of shareable plates, snacks and house cocktails. Del Mar SoCal Kitchen, its sibling restaurant on the bottom floor of the same building, opened last week. Executive chef Sonny Pache, a California native, is overseeing the food for both establishments. He brings experience working at CMR’s Ocean Prime Dallas and Ocean Prime Philadelphia. 

Winans Chocolates + Coffees will officially open in Grandview Yard on Saturday, April 27, at 1125 Yard St. Like its Downtown Columbus coffee shop, Winans’ newest location will offer wine in addition to coffee and its signature chocolates.

Bristol Republic, a country-themed restaurant, bar and music venue, opened last week at 1124 N. High St. in the Short North. The bar offers a variety of bourbons, rye whiskeys, scotch and house cocktails, while the food menu, created by Max McGarity of Smoked on High Barbeque Co., features barbecue, burgers, fried chicken and Southern sides. The restaurant is open daily, with live music Thursday through Sunday.

COHatch Polaris The Pub holds its grand opening, dubbed the “Side Street Festival,” from 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Polaris Fashion Place, 1554 Polaris Parkway. The 7,000-square-foot coworking space will double as a full bar and entertainment venue. The family-friendly event will feature live music, food trucks, prize giveaways, beer tastings and tours of the on-site brewery, Brothers Drake Meadery. YMCA Family Fun Factory will be on hand offering children’s activities from 3 to 7 p.m. For more information, visit facebook.com/COHatchPolaris.

Peerless Management Group, the owners of BBR and Dahlia Nightclub, announced plans to open a restaurant and cocktail bar named Fireproof in the Short North’s Fireproof Building at 1026 N. High St., formerly Pies & Pints. Look for a summer opening.

The owner of bygone Ugly Tuna Saloona plans to re-open the Campus-area bar as Ugly Tuna 2 at 195 Chittenden Ave., a location that has struggled in recent years with both Two Bucks and Rooks Tavern closing after brief stints. The reincarnation of Ugly Tuna is expected to open by the end of April.

The Stack doughnut and coffee shop is now open at 262 W. Lane Ave., across the street from Varsity Club.

Closings

House Wine’s Bexley location closed last weekend after less than a year. An announcement on social media stated that the shop at 2262 E. Main St. hasn’t “had the level of support we needed to make this location sustainable.” House Wine’s flagship Worthington shop remains open.

Odds & Ends

Watershed Kitchen & Bar unveiled its new spring/summer cocktail menu this week. Cocktails such as Grandpa’s Sun Tea and The Ohio State Fair highlight the Midwestern yard sale-themed menu, with cocktails inspired by the places, smells and flavors of growing up in the Midwest.

On Sunday,April 28, Delaware’s Old Dog Alehouse & Brewery, 13 W. William St., is hosting Brews for Berets 2019, an event benefiting the Green Beret Foundation, which provides support for Special Forces veterans and their families. For more information, visit greenberetfoundation.org.
