The Standard & Poor's 500 index added 1.11 points to 2,037.05.

The Nasdaq composite index lost 6.72 points, or 0.1 percent, to 4,766.79.

For the year:

The Dow is up 110.36 points, or 0.6 percent.

The S&P 500 is down 6.89 points, or 0.3 percent.

The Nasdaq is down 240.62 points, or 4.8 percent.
