NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) Firefighters are battling a blaze at a large house in a historic section of Newport, Rhode Island, near the many mansions that have become tourist attractions.

Fire officials say they responded Thursday afternoon to a home on Bellevue Avenue, where The Elms, Rosecliff and Marble House mansions are located.

City records indicate the burning property once was owned by the late John Drexel III, head of a powerful Philadelphia banking family and a socialite. Drexel's great-great-grandfather Anthony Drexel was a business partner of financier J.P. Morgan and founded Drexel University.

There are no reports of injuries in the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown.
