Soybeans for November delivery fell 32.75 cents to settle at $12.24 a bushel. December corn fell 1.5 cents to $4.7875 a bushel. September wheat edged down 4 cents to $6.4925 a bushel.

August gold picked up $9.30 to $1,328.80 an ounce. Silver for September delivery rose 13.4 cents to $20.154 an ounce. Copper closed slightly higher, while platinum and palladium both fell.

The price of crude oil added 10 cents to $105.49 a barrel in New York. Other energy futures closed lower.
