Chesebrough's love of science, education and people made him a successful, much-admired Columbus leader....with a really cool office.

David Chesebrough is to COSI what Gordon Gee was to Ohio State: A large and likeable personality with a talent for building relationships that propelled his organization to the top of its class.

COSI President and CEO Chesebrough announced his retirement this morning. Chesebrough will leave the Center of Science and Industry at the end of 2016.

Chesebrough will leave COSI in a position of strength after devoting the last ten years to elevating and reinvigorating the nation's third-oldest science center. During his tenure, COSI celebrated its 50th anniversary and moved to a new home as the centerpiece of the city's redeveloped Scioto Peninsula.

Chesebrough was profiled as2013 CEO of the Year for his leadership of the nonprofit. He also has the coolest office in Columbus.

Chesebourgh made the following statement in this morning's announcement:

"As I reflect on my time here at COSI, I am proud to have accomplished all that was expected when I was first hired and more; leaving COSI in a great place as I move towards retirement. COSI is strong and has a great team in place to work with the next President and CEO to further serve our community."

COSI's board has launched a search for its next CEO.
