Coming up this week-torch-bearing police officers, free money and family-friendly zoo transportation.More than 2,000 law enforcement personnel are carrying the Flame of Hope across the state this week as part of the 2015 Law Enforcement Torch Run. It will culminate Friday in opening ceremonies of the Ohio Special Olympics State Summer Games. Hats off to the good guys and gals supporting a good cause! Attention eager learners! Columbus State Community College is taking applications for scholarships of up to $2,500. Those out of college for at least a year and with 30 credits already earned can apply for a Welcome Back Scholarship. Part-time students who have completed two semesters can seek a Jumpstart to Success Scholarship to become full-time students and finish faster. Students in associate degree business programs such as accounting, finance, business management, human resource management and marketing get priority for the Jumpstart scholarships. Applications for either scholarship are due on July 31. Finally, don't go to the Columbus Zoo without checking into the zoo bus! Under a 20-year partnership between the Zoo and COTA, zoo bus riders can get half-price zoo admissions or $4 off Zoombezi Bay admissions. Catch the zoo bus outside the Statehouse on High Street just between State Street and Broad Street or at Griggs Dam Park and Ride.
