Some 5,000 young volleyball players will celebrate Independence Day in Columbus as part of the USA Volleyball's 2015 Boys' Junior National Championships from Sunday through July 5 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Players ages 12-18 on 479 teams-the most ever for the competition-will vie for top honors in two divisions. The previous high mark was 420 teams in 2013. Columbus' convention center hosted the girls' national championships in 2012.

And while you have some time off later this week, plan for more family fun at summer's end by attending The New Albany Classic Invitational Grand Prix & Family Day September 20 on the grounds of the Wexner home in New Albany. The event supports The Center for Family Safety and Healing , a nonprofit dealing with family violence. The full day of festivities includes internationally-sanctioned equestrian jumping competition and much more family activities and entertainment.
Happy 4th of July!
