Columbus CEO's Healthcare Achievement Awards for 2020 follow a similar theme: Prevailing against giant obstacles. Hear their stories—and who they nominated as their pandemic heroes—in the video of our virtual event.

Columbus CEO honored the region's standouts in health care July 29.

The Healthcare Achievement Awards were celebrated via virtual event, where the stories followed a similar theme: Prevailing despite giant obstacles.

We shared the narrative behind the compassion of Lifetime Achievement winner Dr. Michael Para of Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Equitas Health, who was a national pioneer on the front lines of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and 1990s. And we highlighted the ingenuity and grit of Executive of the Year winner Chuck Gehring, who brought LifeCare Alliance out of financial straits to become a nationally recognized Meals-on-Wheels agency that turns no client down.

You can learn about all this year's Healthcare Achievement Awards honorees here.

In a special twist, each winner recognized a health care hero of their own—people who made laudable sacrifices and contributions during the coronavirus pandemic. Among those mentioned were Justine Meszaros at Nationwide Insurance, Dr. Christina Lizcynesky at OSU Wexner Medical Center and former state health director Dr. Amy Acton.
