Thrive Columbus Feb. 27 was one of the last events I attended in the weeks leading up to the coronavirus shutdown. It was fabulous.
Of course Thrive Columbus, held Feb. 27 at the Fawcett Center, was going to be amazing—Pulitzer Prize winner Connie Schultz and Angela Pace were the keynotes. But it was even better than amazing.
I don't think my fantastic memories of the day are the result of being shut in for the past six weeks producing magazines from the study in my house. Nor do I think they are because I moderated a panel of incredible women who shared their stories that day.
It was everything, especially the moments of inspiration where women radiated massive energy sharing poems and personal experiences—like the one from Stonewall Columbus Executive Director A.J. Casey where, despite insecurity and a narrative of self-diminishment running in her head, she finally claimed her status as one of the most powerful women in Ohio.
