When more people stay overnight in Columbus, the city earns big.

Columbus and Franklin County collected a record $47.9 million in taxes on hotel stays in 2018 even as occupancy dipped slightly due to hotel openings. Large gatherings hosted here last year included the NCAA Women’s Final Four, the National Urban League and the American Trucking Associations. Organizations receiving a share of the 10 percent tax include the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority, Experience Columbus, the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Affordable Housing Trust.
