Recently, I was informed that the Service Support Administrators (SSAs) have been on strike for more some time with nothing being reported in our local paper.

This group of 20 employees spend countless hours working to organize almost 700 citizens in our county who have developmental disabilities to receive the services they need.

The SSAs have not had a pay increase in their base pay for more than 10 years. That should not happen! My understanding is the pay increase would cost the Portage County DD $60,000 over a three-year period and that there is plenty of money in their savings.

Don’t you feel that this matter deserves some investigation? The SSAs are needed and deserve to be compensated with an increase in pay.
