NEWCOMERSTOWN — Robert T. (Bob, Bobby, Ted) Poland, 60, of Newcomerstown, passed away Monday (December 4, 2017) at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia with his wife by his side.

Bob was born in Dover on Dec. 10, 1956. He graduated from Claymont High School in Uhrichsville in 1975 where he was a member of the concert and marching band. He was retired from the Cambridge State Hospital. He enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's school activities and sporting events. Bob never knew a stranger. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and also attended the First Baptist Church, both of Newcomerstown.

Bob is survived by his wife, Janet (Brady) Poland, who he married May 24, 2003. He is also survived by one son, Seth Poland; one daughter, Sara (Nate) Stein; one stepdaughter, Abby Creager; one grandson, Cameron Poland, all of Newcomerstown; two brothers, John (Carolyn) Poland of Newcomerstown and Rick (Renee) Poland of Uhrichsville; one sister-in-law, Karen Brady of Newcomerstown; one brother-in-law, Jeff (Crystal) Brady of Florida; mother-in-law, Loretta Brady of Newcomerstown; a very special lifelong friend, Bob Michels of Uhrichsville; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Betty (Mason) Poland, and father, John F. Poland, Sr.; and aunts and uncles.

Services will be Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at Addy Funeral Home with Pastor Bob LaFollette officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m.
