Pierce Harlin DeFilippo, son of Dean and Dawn DeFilippo of Ravenna, has achieved Boy Scouts highest rank, that of Eagle Scout. He began his Scouting career in Pack No. 3256 Kent and achieved Cub Scouts highest award, the Arrow of Light, in 2012.

Pierce is a very active member of Boy Scout Troop No. 257, chartered by Christ Episcopal Church in Kent. He has held numerous leadership positions including Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Librarian, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader and is currently serving as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.

He has completed National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and has returned as a staff member for the past four years, helping to teach this youth-led week-long course.

Pierce was inducted into the Order of the Arrow — Boy Scouting’s National Honor Society in 2014, where he serves as a Brotherhood Member in the Marnoc Lodge No. 151.

Pierce earned the rank of Eagle Scout on Oct. 9, 2018. His Eagle Project was building and installing six bat houses to control the mosquito population for the community of Sugar Bush Knolls. Pierce led a team of 20-plus volunteers of all ages for 160 hours.

Pierce is a senior at the Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School and has been accepted to the University of Akron to study Cyber Security.
