Cindy Casciato of Ravenna has been named State of Ohio Queen for TOPS Club, Inc. for her efforts in losing 90.5 pounds.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly, TOPS, is a wellness education organization with thousands of chapters in the United States. Members learn about nutrition, portion control, food planning, exercise, motivation, and more. Visitors may attend their first TOPS meeting free of charge and without obligation.

"I have enjoyed the support of my TOPS friends for more than 20 years. During that time, I had many losses and gains and struggled to get my head in the game and stay focused," Casciato said.

"Looking back, I can see that I used my job and my children’s activities like roadblocks so I didn’t have to work at taking care of myself. In August 2015, I reached a serious complication from being overweight. My doctor told me I was pre-diabetic and I needed to limit my carbohydrates. My own mother had died from diabetes," she said.

"This was the wakeup call I needed and the turning point for me to finally make a commitment to put myself first. Real change requires doing something different than what you have done in the past," Casciato said.

"Our TOPS Chapter does such a great job motivating their members with many recognition programs and contests. I now have twice the energy, and my diabetes is totally reversed. My strongest motivation to Keep Off the Pounds comes from helping my TOPS Pals reach their goals. I just want to say thank you to the amazing, inspiring KOPS in my chapter and all the encouragement from my TOPS friends. TOPS is truly the best weight loss support group ever. We are here for you!" said Casciato.
