Lauren Hutchinson and Jeff Willis exchanged vows in a wedding ceremony held June 9, 2018 at the United Church of Christ in Kent with the Rev. John Bertsch officiating.
Larry and Tina Hutchinson of Rootstown are the parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Carl and Cathy Willis of Atwater.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless, ivory ballgown embellished with crystal beading on the bodice and layers of organza ruffles adorning the skirt and chapel train. She carried a hand-gathered bouquet of multi-colored flowers including roses, peonies, gerber daisies and hypericum berries.
Maid of honor was Mindy Graeser and matron of honor was Nicole Spears. Also attending the bride were Kayla Hutchinson, Stephanie Sullivan, Jamie Willis, Carli Willis and Meredith Wagler.
Serving as best man was Jordan Hamrick. Groomsmen were Scott Hutchinson, Jack Bault, Dane Wise, Cody Lautzenheiser, Rich Knapp and Jarren Russel.
A reception immediately following the ceremony was held at Underwood Hall in Kent. Out-of-town guests were from Colorado, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. A special performance of Frank Sinatra’s "New York, New York" was performed by Joey Cipriano, uncle of the bride.
The new Mrs. Willis is a graduate of Rootstown High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in speech and language pathology from Kent State University and her master’s degree in intervention specialist mild/moderate from the University of Akron. She is employed with the Waterloo Local School District.
Her husband is a graduate of Waterloo High School and received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minor in athletic training from Mount Union College in Alliance. He is employed with the U.S. Postal Service.
The couple took a Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas, Honduras and Mexico.
