The Guernsey County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society recently elected new officers.

The 2018 officers are President Beth McCoy Wharton, Vice President Sonny Alfman, Recording Secretary Cookie Eagleson Connell, Corresponding Secretary Debi Buckey Stiers, Treasurer Bob Erskine and Trustees Lyn Whitehair Alfman, Joy Wilbert Erskine  and Attorney Keith Biegler.

The society’s library, 127 N. Seventh Street in Cambridge, is a place where researchers can find many genealogical records for Guernsey County, such as marriage records, birth records, death records, administration dockets, newspaper obituary files, civil court records, probate case files, cemetery records, and much more.

Hours of operation are 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, and the public is welcome.

The Society is currently looking for volunteers who enjoy genealogy and helping people find their roots. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the office, 740-432-9249. If no one answers, leave a name and phone number so someone can return your call.
