ARCHBOLD - Employees from 10 career & technical schools from northwest, northeast and central Ohio - including the Four County Career Center - participated in a unified Professional Development Day Friday.

Approximately 1,000 school employees, including teachers, administrators, secretaries and other support staff participated in the event at one of three sites: Penta Career Center in Perrysburg; Sentinel Career and Technology Center in Tiffin; and Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion.

“After years of hosting professional development conferences for administrators from these same schools, a Professional Development Day was held last year for the benefit of the entire staffs from each of the ten schools,” said Tim Meister, superintendent of Four County Career Center. “The event was a huge success providing colleagues the opportunity to share ideas and develop new strategies that will ultimately benefit students in career and technical education.”

Some of the topics discussed during this event will include: pre- and post-assessments, instructional teaching strategies, certification opportunities for students, comparison of subject content, career testing options, student evaluations, student organization involvement, career program promotion events, career-technical and academic competencies, use of technology; and topics of importance to office staff.

The other career and technical schools participating in the Professional Development Day include: Apollo Career Center in Lima, EHOVE Career Center in Milan, Lorain County JVS in Lorain, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center in Bellefontaine, Pioneer Career & Technical Center in Shelby, Penta Career Center in Perrysburg, Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion, Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology Centers in Fremont and Tiffin and Vantage Career Center in Van Wert.
