NBCUNIVERSAL: For Comcast, it was the first full quarter in which it owned all of NBCUniversal, parent of NBC and the Universal movie studio. The media conglomerate's results are choppy were helped by "The Voice" on NBC and "Fast & Furious 6" in theaters.

CABLE: Comcast's cable operations, already the largest in the country, keep turning in strong results. Helped by speed upgrades, it added a net 187,000 broadband subscribers, the best second-quarter result in five years.
