The first phase of the $80 million modernization program at Port Columbus to upgrade the three concourses and ticket lobby has been completed.
Work on Concourse A, which serves Southwest and AirTran flights, has been completed and includes terrazzo floors, carpeting in the gate areas, wall treatments, new ceiling tiles and stainless-steel column wraps. The two new food options in the concourse, Vino Volo and Donatos, will be open by mid-November.
Work on Concourse A cost $3.5 million.
Work continues on Concourse C. Work on Concourse B will start soon, and the renovation of the ticket lobby and baggage-claim area are scheduled to begin in 2015.
“Modernizing our existing 1958 terminal building is a timely investment that helps create an airport conducive to growth,” said Elaine Roberts, CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority.
