Vincent Brockman, executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Scotts Miracle-Gro, has resigned “to pursue other interests.”
The Marysville maker of lawn and garden-care products has promoted Ivan Smith, a 10-year veteran of the company as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary to replace Brockman, who was hired in 2008.
Brockman, who also served as chief ethics and compliance officer, takes with him severance pay and lump-sum payments of nearly $1.5 million, as well as employee benefits, such as health-care insurance, according to a regulatory filing.
About a month ago, Scotts lost three directors shortly after its board reprimanded CEO Jim Hagedorn for his “colorful language.”
Scotts shares rose 24 cents yesterday to $50.10, a 52-week high.
